Monte Pana Dolomites S.p.A. recently completed an important work at Monte Pana: the construction of a 5,000 m³ snow-making tank, essential to ensure high-quality programmed snow and a longer and more reliable winter season.
This new infrastructure makes it possible to better prepare the slopes, meeting customer expectations, which are increasingly focused on snow quality. The water required for snowmaking is slowly collected in autumn, when nature is already saturated, and returns to its natural cycle in springas the snow melts and replenishes the aquifers when the mountain needs it most.
The work started with a team of three excavators and a surveyor, who were then joined by between seven and ten masons, depending on the different phases of the project. Working in the mountains presents unique challenges: the terrain is constantly changing and weather conditions are highly variable, requiring daily adjustments to ensure the safety and efficiency of the site.
Once the tank is finished, it is completely covered with earth and then the area will be greened. This will allow the tank to blend perfectly into the landscape, making it invisible to visitors' eyes and preserving the natural appearance of the mountain.
An important aspect of this intervention was the commitment not to interrupt or limit in any way the activities of the hotel and the surrounding area, thus ensuring a minimal impact on the local economy and tourism.
Construction sites, maintenance, innovations: we write about what goes on behind the scenes in our valley every day. A way of showing off the ongoing commitment that keeps the mountain moving, season after season.
