The Consortium Rope Systems Val Gardena - Alpe di Siusi was born in 1971, the result of a simple but powerful intuition: join forces to grow together. In a complex territory, made up of many different and deeply rooted realities, this choice was revolutionary. Men with far-sighted visions understood that the real strength would be in collaboration. Thus, autonomous companies but united by a common goal decided to build something that would go beyond the individual plant, beyond the individual village, beyond the individual valley.
Today the Consortium brings together 41 companiesmany of which are still family-run, and represents an organised reality that manages, coordinates and supports an entire system. From sale of ski passes at distribution of receipts, from management of piste rescue at Sellarondato customer service and stewarding: each activity is designed to provide a consistent, quality experience at all locations.
The first concrete impulse towards collaboration between the valleys came from Erich Demetzpioneering figure who in 1970 brought the World Ski Championships. A challenge won against international giants such as Kitzbühel, St. Moritz and Banff. It was the beginning of an unprecedented tourist explosion.
In 1971, the collaboration between Val Gardena and the Alpe di Siusi was born, a natural bond strengthened by a history that had already begun in 1935 with the construction of the first facility between Ortisei and the Alpe di Siusi. But the real revolution came in 1974 with the birth of the Dolomiti Superskia single ski pass to cross four Dolomite valleys. The idea took shape at theHotel Posta in Corvaraaround a table where seven visionary men sat: Eric Kostner, Ugo Illing, Erich Kastlunger, Gottfried Declara, Paolo Fosco, Franz Perathoner e Fiorenzo Perathoner. A system was born that was destined to change the history of skiing.
The consortium structure today represents a rare example of balance between local autonomy e shared management. Each company retains direct control over the lifts, slopes and snowmaking systems, but collaborates on everything from general coordination, tourism promotion, ticket technology and day-to-day management of the ski area.
Behind every plant, there is the tireless work of people working 365 days a yeareven away from the ski season, to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Key roles include kittymen, drivers, technicians, maintainersand many other specialised figures who ensure safety, efficiency and quality at every stage of the year.
One of the architects of this vision was Gianni Marzolathe charismatic president of Dolomiti Superski for over 25 years. A man from Milan, he fell in love with the Dolomites during a military leave and from that moment on dedicated his life to the mountains. Under his leadership, Dolomiti Superski succeeded in uniting different communities - Italian, Ladin, South Tyrolean - overcoming historical and cultural rivalries. His dream was simple: to allow people to move freely from one resort to another, letting the mountains draw the boundaries.
Today the Dolomiti Superski is one of the most advanced ski resorts in the world, with 1,200 km of slopes and lift facilities among the most modern in Europe. The Val Gardena - Alpe di Siusi Consortium is a central part of this, thanks to the vision and determination of those who have believed in a shared future.
The new website is part of this journey: a place where you can tell who we are, what we do e where we are going. A tool to communicate better with each other and with the world, to continue to achieve great things - as has always been the case here, under the severe and silent gaze of the Sassolungo.
